High of 92 in Renton Thursday, weekend forecast

Temperatures reached 92 degrees in Renton Thursday, and today’s forecast is expected to be about the same.

The high at the SeaTac airport was 95, breaking its July 8 record of 87 degrees, set in 1952, according to the National Weather Service.

A heat advisory is in effect in the Puget Sound region through tonight.

The past three days have broken all of Renton’s record highs, which are based on only about 10 years of data from the municipal airport.

Wednesday’s high of 87 broke 2007’s 79 high. Thursday’s high of 92 broke a 2006 record of 84. Today’s high has already reached into the 80s and is expected to break 2001’s record high of 84.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 79. Southwest wind between 3 and 6 mph.

Sunday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59.
