Two men were injured by gunfire in a shooting, possibly related to drugs, at the Sunset Vista Apartments on Benson Hill early Friday afternoon.

A third man, 35, of Renton was taken into custody for felony investigation of assault.

The shooting occurred at about 12:20 p.m. at the complex in the 10400 block of Southeast 174th Street, just off the Benson Highway. Emergency dispatchers received multiple 911 calls about the shooting.

Between 20 and 60 shots were fired during the shooting. One handgun involved in the shooting was recovered.

The victims are a man about 30, who was taken to Harborview Medical Center, and a 28-year-old man, who was taken to Valley Medical Center in Renton. Their conditions weren’t immediately available.

It wasn’t immediately known whether the two men were involved in the shooting or innocent bystanders, said Terri Vickers, a spokeswoman for the Renton Police Department.

Multiple shooters were involved, Vickers said, but as of Friday afternoon investigators believe there are no suspects still at large.

The shooting occurred outside, in a walkway or breezeway, Vickers said.

The investigation is continuing.
