Debra Bowman’s son David and her nephew Devan Bickham’s high school graduation is more than a year away. But Bowman and others are already fundraising for their 2010 graduation night party, called Safe and Sober Grad Party.

Bowman is a parent co-chair of Lindbergh High School’s Grad Night 2010, to be held on graduation night, June 11, 2010. To cut student ticket costs, Bowman and her fellow committee members are trying to raise $20,000 for the party. This will bring the student price down to $125 apiece.

As part of its fundraising efforts, the Grad Night 2010 committee is holding “Going Green for the Community” presentations the second Monday of each month, on Oct. 13, Nov. 11 and Dec. 8, from 4:10-4:50 p.m. at King County Fire District 40’s Station 42, 18002 108th Ave. S.E., Renton.

These presentations will show attendees how to create a Melaleuca shopping account to benefit Grad Night 2010. Melaleuca is an online and catalog retailer that sells scientifically based wellness products. Bowman can also bring the Melaleuca presentations to homes, or provide account-setup instructions over the phone or through e-mail.

The Grad Night 2010 committee is also looking for cash and prize donations.

Grad Night 2010 starts June 11 at 10 p.m. and lasts until 6 a.m. the next day. Attendees will visit two undisclosed locations. The event’s intention is to give graduates a safe, alcohol and drug-free place to celebrate graduation.

To donate or set up a Melaleuca shopping account, contact Debra Bowman at 425-336-4482 or bowmanone@comcast.net. For more information about Grad Night 2010 visit www.lindberghgradparty10.org.
