Final public hearing on county budget set for Monday

The meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday in the Council Chambers, 10th Floor, King County Courthouse, 516 Third Ave., Seattle.

As the Metropolitan King County Council’s Budget and Fiscal Management Committee prepares to complete its work on the Executive-proposed 2015-2016 Budget, the public will have a final opportunity to present their budget priorities at a special meeting of the County Council on Monday.

The meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday in the Council Chambers, 10th Floor, King County Courthouse, 516 Third Ave., Seattle.

The Council meeting and public hearing will also be shown live on King County TV on Comcast and Wave Cable Channel 22, and online at: www.kingcounty.gov/KCTV.

The Budget and Fiscal Management Committee received King County’s first biennial (two-year) budget from County Executive Dow Constantine on Sept. 22. During the month of October, 150 people came to testify at four special night meetings hosted by Budget Committee Chair Joe McDermott in Fall City, Bellevue, Kent and in Seattle at the County Courthouse.

This will be the final public hearing before the Council adopts the final King County Budget later this month.

The Budget Committee has completed its review of criminal justice, health and human services agency budgets and its assessment of the budgets of all the separately-elected officials and general government operations. It is expected to present its “striker” –the committee’s proposed changes to the Executive’s budget—late next week, with the Council scheduled to vote on the final proposal the week of Nov. 17.
