Family, pets flee two-alarm house fire in Skyway this morning

The occupants and their pets of a home in the 11000 block of Auburn Avenue South in Skyway escaped safely after the house caught fire at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to David Nelson, a spokesman for Fire District 20.

Also responding to the two-alarm fire were crews from the Renton and Tukwila fire departments.

“When firefighters arrived they found heavy smoke coming from all sides of the house and made a fast attack to a workshop area within the home,” said Nelson “Firefighters were able to limit the spread of the fire to the workshop. However smoke damage was throughout the house with minor water damage.”

There were no injuries to the occupants or firefighters.

Fire crews remand on scene while a fire investigator determined the cause of the fire. A damage estimate was not immediately known.

The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants.
