Expect westbound overnight closures on SR900 next week

Drivers who use Martin Luther King Jr. Way South (state Route 900) to travel between Renton and Seattle should be prepared for evening and overnight closures of all westbound lanes, and a single eastbound lane next week for pavement repair work.

Drivers who use Martin Luther King Jr. Way South (state Route 900) to travel between Renton and Seattle should be prepared for evening and overnight closures of all westbound lanes, and a single eastbound lane next week for pavement repair work.

The work is part of a $3.2 million project to rehabilitate and preserve MLK Jr. Way South (SR 900) between SR 167 and I-5.

Closure details:

· Monday, June 20 to the morning of Friday, June 24: All lanes of westbound MLK Jr. Way South between South 129th Street and Interstate 5 will close nightly. The first lane will close at 8 p.m. and both lanes will be closed by 10 p.m. The highway will reopen by 5 a.m. daily.

· Monday, June 20 to the morning of Thursday, June 23: A single lane of eastbound MLK Jr. Way South between I-5 and South 129th Street will close nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Westbound drivers will follow a signed detour.

Prepare now for weekend closure June 24-27

Drivers should also plan ahead for a weekend closure of MLK Jr. Way South between South Boeing Access Road and South 129th Street from 10 p.m. Friday, June 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, June 27.

WSDOT contractor crews will remove and replace concrete panels and the roadbed before repaving the roadway. The work is weather dependent.
