Delivering pizza and a punch | POLICE BLOTTER

This week’s blotter includes a pizza delivery gone wrong, mysterious graffiti, and more.

The following was compiled from Renton Police Department case reports.

A Dominos pizza delivery driver was finishing up a delivery on Jan. 3 near Renton Center Way, near Martin Luther King Way South, when he was almost hit by a silver sedan.

He told the driver to be careful so someone wouldn’t get hurt. The male driver replied, “Why don’t I get out and beat your ###?” He got out of the car and began lunging at the victim.

Another suspect got out of the vehicle and approached him. Since the victim didn’t have a weapon to defend himself, he pulled out his car keys and told the suspects that if they didn’t back off, he’d stab them. The suspects continued to lunge at them and started punching him, causing him multiple lacerations and bruises on his face.

When the suspects stopped assaulting the victim, they got back into the vehicle and drove away. The victim followed their vehicle and got their license plate number. Police were able to find the registered owner of the car and the suspect positively identified the driver.

One suspect was cited for fourth-degree assault.

Suck it up: Police were dispatched on Jan. 3 to Big Lots on Northeast Sunset Boulevard regarding shoplifting.

The manager of the business said that he observed a male and a female selecting two of the most expensive vacuums in the store. He saw them approach the front of the store, head to the register then suddenly bolted out the door. The female suspect ran to the door on the west side, dropped the vacuum, then ran out of the east door. The male suspect then ran out of the east door with the vacuum.

If caught, the suspects would be cited for third-degree theft.

Fries with that counterfeit bill?: A Wendy’s employee called the police on Jan. 1 to report that a male suspect attempted to pay for food with a counterfeit $50 bill.

When the employee confronted the suspect about the bill, the suspect left. The employee followed him but lost him near the 18100 block of 108th Avenue Southeast.

There is no further suspect information at this time.

Spray on, paint off: Police were called on Jan. 2 by a tenant of Wasatch Hills Apartments on Stevens Avenue Southwest regarding spray-painted graffiti on three of the apartment buildings.

When officers arrived, the graffiti was painted over, but the tenant had photos. The report notes that the graffiti had gang overtones and tag names.

It is estimated that between the cost of materials and labor, the cost to fix the damage is $1,000. There is no further suspect information at this time.
