The Renton School District is inviting the community to come check out the newly renovated Renton Memorial Stadium at an open house Saturday.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a brief presentation at noon, and is free to everyone. There will be performances by the Seattle Seahawks Blue Thunder drumline and from high school drill and dance teams.

Voters passed a school construction bond measure in May 2008 that paid for the estimated $7 million stadium work.

Work includes seating, plumbing and electrical repairs. As well as improvements to the concession stand, lighting, locker rooms, restrooms and fire protection.

The reader board and public address systems were replaced, and perimeter security was improved. The roof was also replaced and the walls were reinforced.

The home section of the renovation is complete and the visitor side is scheduled to be renovated in summer of 2012.
