The City of Renton is sponsoring a free Shred-a-thon for paper documents on Saturday, May 5, at Sam’s Club parking lot, 901 S. Grady Way.
The event is 9 a.m.-noon, or until the truck is full.
The public can bring up to five paper boxes containing paper documents to be destroyed in a truck-mounted shredder. Boxes should be 12 to 15 inches deep and 10 inches high, or bring the amount of paper that would fit in a box that size.
Documents should be free of paper clips and other metal, although staples do not need to be removed. Plastic items such as credit cards, notebooks and CDs cannot be accepted. Documents are limited to household papers and will be shredded on site.
Iron Mountain will provide the shredding services and the Renton Police Department will provide information related to identity theft. Donations of canned goods will be accepted for the Renton Food Bank.
