The city of Renton recently purchased 10 vehicles to add to its fleet.
On Aug. 4, the City Council approved the purchase of eight pick-up trucks, one bucket truck and one riding lawn mower for a total of $804,837.
The eight 2026 Ford-F20 4WD pick-up trucks were purchased for the Parks and Recreation Department, Park and Trail Maintenance Division. The vehicles will replace four existing Ford F-250s purchased in 2008 and fill four new truck allocations for new programs, according to the agenda bill.
The quote provided with the agenda bill priced the trucks with the add-ons at $49,442 for each truck, for a total of $428,761 after tax, from Bud Clary Ford. Add-ons included an extended cabs, trailer brake control, platform running boards, exterior backup alarms, LED box lighting and spray-in bedliners.
Funding for the vehicles was approved in the 2025-26 budget. The purchase was $105,238 under the allocated budget. The old vehicles will be sent to auction.
The city purchased one 2025 Terex LTM40 Bucket Truck for $272,285. The truck, with the ability to reach a height of 22 feet, will be used by Parks Maintenance and Tree Maintenance for tree trimming, according to the agenda bill. The vehicle was purchased from Terex utilizing the Sourcewell contract.
The truck will replace an existing 2001 Altec Bucket Truck, which has “reached the end of its useful life and needs to be replaced to meet current safety standards.” The old truck will be sent to auction.
The funding for the purchase was approved in the 2025-26 quarter two budget for an amount of $275,000. The purchase was $2,960 under budget.
The Toro Groundmaster 4000-D mower was purchased for $103,591 and will replace their existing mower purchased in 2009, according to the agenda bill. The mower was purchased from Turf Star Western using the the Sourcewell Contract.
Parks Maintenance and Trail Maintenance will use the equipment to mow turf fields.
The purchase was $591 over the budget for the mower approved in the 2025-26 quarter two budget adjustments. The additional costs will be covered with the fund 501 fund balance and included with the mid-biennial budget adjustment.
