City looking for artists to paint winter scenes on windows

Installations should be winter or winter holiday themed and incorporate lighting. Artwork may be in any two-dimensional, three-dimensional, or new media.

The Renton Municipal Arts Commission is looking for artists to create temporary winter or holiday-themed installations for unoccupied storefronts in downtown Renton. The storefronts are located on South Third Street between Logan Avenue South and Main Avenue South.

Installations should be winter or winter holiday themed and incorporate lighting. Artwork may be in any two-dimensional, three-dimensional, or new media.

Each artist chosen will receive $100-$500 based on the size and type of space assigned to them. All materials required for the installation are the responsibility of the artist. Artists are encouraged to walk around downtown Renton and identify potential locations before submitting proposals, since available vacant storefronts range in type and scale.

Possible available locations include:

• 825 S. Third St.;

• 807 S. Third St. (window only; no floor space); and

• 700 S. Third St.

Proposals must be emailed to arts@rentonwa.gov and received by Oct. 21, 2016. Chosen artists will be notified via email by Oct. 28. The artwork must be installed by Nov. 20, 2016, and will be on display from Small Business Saturday, Nov. 26, through mid-January 2017.
