‘Citizenship Day’ offers free legal help on naturalization Saturday at RTC

These free legal clinics will pair eligible LPRs with pro-bono immigration attorneys who can provide guidance in navigating the complex naturalization process.

Renton Technical College will host a free “Citizenship Day,” a free legal clinic for eligible legal permanent residents to get help applying for citizenship.

Presented by OneAmerica and in partnership with the Washington Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyer’s Association (AILA-WA), the Washington New Americans program will host four Citizenship Day events in four cities across Washington on Oct. 18, including Renton.

These free legal clinics will pair eligible LPRs with pro-bono immigration attorneys who can provide guidance in navigating the complex naturalization process.

Washington State has over 180,000 legal permanent residents who are eligible for naturalization but have yet to take that final step. Often, this delay is due to confusion about the process or because of the formidable fees involved, nearly $700 per application.

The free event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Renton Technical College.
