The Renton Chamber of Commerce’s Business Excellence Awards ceremony, which this year also includes the Renton Reporter’s Best of Renton winners, is scheduled for Thursday at the Piazza.
The city is fortunate to have so many businesses and corporations that call Renton home. These companies provide valuable jobs to Renton and Puget Sound residents with the opportunity to leverage their national and world-wide name recognition to attract and retain more commerce.
Their involvement creates a stronger community because they take the initiative to bring businesses and consumers together to promote a better quality of life.
As a way of saying thank you, the Chamber will be honoring businesses who have dedicated their time and energy to ensuring our community is a success.
The poll is now closed and your votes have chosen five Chamber of Commerce businesses to receive awards for customer service, community leadership, outstanding non-profit, business excellence (1-10 employees), and business excellence (10+ employees).
This year’s event also adds two additional awards to the annual ceremony.
First, the Renton Reporter’s Best of Renton winners will be honored from the stage allowing the winning businesses a day to be recognized with good music, food, and laughs.
In addition to the Top Five Businesses and Renton Reporters Best of Renton, Renton Mayor Denis Law, will honor two outstanding Renton companies with the first “Mayor’s Century Award.”
The 2016 Recipients are: Boeing and Brotherton Cadillac Buick GMC.
What makes the Mayor’s Century Award doubly important in its inaugural year are these two companies celebrating their respective 100-year anniversaries.

The Renton Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards is scheduled for 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Renton Pavilion Event Center, 233 Burnett Ave. Cost is $50 per person.
