Catholic Community Services asks for food donations for the upcoming holidays

Donations are for tenants of the Renton’s new supportive housing program.

The Renton Chamber has received a holiday request from the Sidney Wilson House, Renton’s new permanent supportive housing program with Catholic Community Services, located on Oakesdale that recently opened this Summer.

At the Sidney Wilson House, approximately 100 residents have their own kitchen units within the facility and are responsible for their own meals and meal preparation.

Catholic Community Services would like to help them with their first holiday meals in the facility. The house has already purchased turkeys for their guests for Thanksgiving but are looking for help with side dishes for Thanksgiving as well as turkeys and sides for Christmas.

According to event organizers, both of these holidays fall near the end of the month, when those receiving public assistance often find themselves low on funds for certain purchases.

“It takes a village … and we at the Renton Chamber are proud of our membership always stepping forward to show support to our neighbors with needs and we look forward to how we can collectively help some of our newest neighbors this holiday season,” said Diane Dobson, CEO of the Renton Chamber of Commerce.

For those interested in helping or donating, direct contact can be made with the house manager, DeRonna House at 253-259-6447. The Sidney Wilson House address is 1150 Oakesdale Avenue SW Renton.
