Threat with a firearm: At 2:50 a.m. Dec. 7 in the 2200 block of Benson Road, officers were dispatched for an assault with a firearm. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim, who stated she was hanging out with the suspect, and an argument occurred. The argument turned physical when the suspect hit her and threatened her with a firearm. The suspect fled the area in his vehicle. The case is ongoing.

Copper wire stolen: At 6:21 a.m. Dec. 11 in the 800 block of Garden Avenue North, an officer was dispatched to a theft report by phone. The victim reported that 250-400 feet of copper cord went missing from the jobsite. There was no sign of forced entry at the jobsite. There is probable cause for second-degree theft and second-degree burglary if a suspect is identified.

Person smoking drugs: At 10:55 a.m. Dec. 12 in the area of Rainier Avenue South and Southwest Grady Way, an officer observed a suspect smoking narcotics. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail.

Shooting victim: At 10:53 p.m. Dec. 12 at South Second Street and Shattuck Avenue South, officers were dispatched to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the victim with a gunshot wound to the leg. Renton fire and rescue crews treated the victim for his injuries and transported him to the hospital. A witness told officers she saw the victim arguing with occupants in a vehicle. Shortly after, she heard a loud pop and saw the victim fall to the ground. Officers performed an area check for the suspect vehicle, but it was not located. The case is under investigation.

Drugs located: At 11:14 a.m. Dec. 16 in the 700 block of Park Avenue North, officers were dispatched to a drug complaint. The suspect was transported to the hospital earlier for an evaluation after a mental health episode. The staff brought the suspect’s belongings to the office and found apparent drugs. The suspect was escorted off the property.

Burglar arrested: At 6:34 a.m. Dec. 16 in the 400 block of Burnett Avenue North, officers were dispatched to a residential burglary. Upon arrival, officers saw that the suspect had entered the property by opening the fence and was near a window on the ground floor of the home. The homeowner was contacted and informed officers that they did not know the suspect. She did not have permission to be on their property. The suspect was found to have a warrant. She was arrested and booked into jail.

Car theft: At 1:52 p.m. Dec. 16 in the 400 block of South Tobin Street, officers were dispatched to an auto theft. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim, who stated his vehicle was parked in front of the businesses. When he exited the business, he witnessed a suspect get into the vehicle and drive off with his personal belongings inside. The case is under investigation.

Carjacking with a gun: At 11:26 p.m. Dec. 16 in the 1200 block of Benson Road South, officers were dispatched to a reported carjacking with a gun. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim, who stated he made plans with a date that evening. The date asked him to pick up her cousin before picking her up for the date. After an outing, he agreed to drop the date and her cousin off in Renton. When they arrived at the destination, two suspects approached the vehicle, and one ordered the victim out of the car using a firearm. The victim complied. Officers performed an area search for the vehicle, but it was not located. The case is under investigation.

Drug paraphernalia: At 12:29 a.m. Dec. 18 in the 700 block of Rainier Avenue South, a patrol officer spotted a suspicious vehicle. When the vehicle’s information was run, the officer discovered the registered driver had warrants. The officer conducted a traffic stop and contacted the registered driver. The suspect was detained, and drug paraphernalia was located inside his pocket. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail.
