Bicyclist killed in Skyway morning crash

A 56-year old Seattle man died Thursday morning in Skyway after his bicycle was hit by a car driven by a 79-year-old Renton man, according to King County Sheriff’s Office.

The collision occurred on South 130th Street and Renton Avenue South at about 6:30 a.m., said Sgt. John Urquhart, spokesman for the King County Sheriff’s Office. The bicyclist died at the scene.

Urquhart said the bicyclist, heading southeast on Renton Avenue, was hit when the car, a 1997 Lincoln Towncar, turned left in front of him.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured, Urquhart said, and drugs or alcohol did not appear to be contributing factors.

No arrest was made Thursday and the investigation was continuing.
