An opportunity to show artistic endeavors is offered to artists July 6, during the Return to Renton Benefit Car Show in downtown.

The Art Gallery will be located across from the Piazza and open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., organized by Arts Unlimited of Renton and fueled by Hilton Garden Inn, sponsor.

“The response to Call for Artists has been underwhelming for the car show,” says Britt Peterson, lead organizer for this event. “Possibly it’s because of the July 4th weekend and artists have other commitments,” says Peterson.”

The popular car show has moved from the stadium location to the streets of downtown Renton for the 2008 event and attracts car enthusiasts from the entire state. Besides the vehicle displays, there will be entertainment, food and a raffle at the Piazza Park, at the corner of South Third Street and Burnett Avenue South.

A $15 fee is charged participating artists to help defray the cost of advertising posters and postcards. Artists need to bring their own display boards. A 10 x 10 canopy tent is acceptable for this outdoor venue. Art featuring autos of all vintages is especially sought, says Peterson, but all fine art is welcome.
