Annual Renton Schools Foundation breakfast is April 30

The breakfast is scheduled for 7:30 to 9 a.m at Renton Pavilion Event Center, 233 Burnett Ave S.

The Renton Schools Foundation is hosting its ninth annual breakfast Monday, April 30.

The nonprofit, which was formerly Friends of Renton Schools, has been providing supplemental funding for the Renton School District since 2009 and focuses on STEM education, music, arts, literacy and teacher grants.

According to school board member Pam Teal, the foundation’s tagline — “Inspiring passion and changing lives” — captures the essence fundraising event.

“That’s the heart of the work we do, which is wanting to provide students with lots of options of extra curricular activities, before and after school,” Teal said. “(The tagline) is a great foundational belief to have.”

This year, the foundation invited Renton native Quinton Morris to be the keynote speaker. Morris is a Renton High School graduate and is the founder of Key to Change, a nonprofit with a mission to ignite positive change in the world through music education.

Meeghan Black will be the emcee for the event.

The event includes a raffle, with prices for VIP Seahawks training camp tickets and Melrose Grill gift cards.
