Administrators honor Maxwell

Marcie Maxwell, a member of the Renton School Board, was awarded the 2008 Community Leadership Award May 16 in recognition of her community leadership and contributions to the improvement of public education by the Washington Association of School Administrators.

Marcie Maxwell, a member of the Renton School Board, was awarded the 2008 Community Leadership Award May 16 in recognition of her community leadership and contributions to the improvement of public education by the Washington Association of School Administrators.

The association presents the award to outstanding volunteers in each school district in King County.

Maxwell has served as an elected Renton School Board director since 2001. Her school board peers from the county elected her as their legislative representative to the Washington State School Directors Association.

Maxwell is past chairman of the Renton Chamber of Commerce, president of Renton Rotary, a member of the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce and a founding board member of both the Renton Community Foundation and the Kennydale Neighborhood Association.

Steve and Marcie Maxwell annually donate to and grant funds to community organizations from the Renton Community Foundation Maxwell Fund for Youth and Families.

Maxwell is a past president of the Renton Area PTA Council. She has promoted public education issues on the Seattle King County Association of Realtors Government Affairs Committee.
