The old Renton City Hall building will be the site of the temporary downtown library location.
The redevelopment plans for the library over the Cedar River are still in the permitting phase, but the temporary site has been confirmed by the King County Library System and the City of Renton.
The temporary site is just adjacent to the current location.
The details have not been worked out yet. The size of the temporary library and what it will house, has yet to be determined, according to Peter Renner, Renton facilities director.
KCLS is redesigning the main downtown Renton branch, with updated features. The project was recently stalled in the permitting process by an appeal brought by the Citizens to Save the Renton Library…Again. A King County hearing examiner ruled against the group and the project continues in the permitting process.
