Sept. 29

Age Friendly Senior 50+ Resource Expo 2023: From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Don Persson Renton Senior Activity Center, this event will showcase over 35 vendor exhibits with presentations on health, finance, transportation, housing and more. Pre-registration encouraged at rentonwa.gov/register or 425-430-6633. Free transportation from Hyde Shuttle is available for Renton residents at 206-727-6262.

2023 Children’s Moon Cake Festival at Renton Community Center: Celebrate the autumn harvest and the full moon with this family-friendly event. Taking place from 5-7 p.m., this free event will have live performances, refreshments, mooncakes, kids crafts, photo opportunities and a movie screening at 7 p.m. in the Community Center gym.

Sept. 30

Renton Downtown Fall Clean Up: Join the Renton Downtown Partnership from 9 to 11 a.m. to clean up litter throughout downtown Renton. Volunteer sign-up can be found at rentondowntown.com/events and check-in will be 8:50 a.m. Gloves, vests, trash bags and grabbers will be provided.

Harvest from the Heart, Sustainable Renton’s Fall Festival & Fundraiser: At Sustainable Renton Community Farm, this free family-friendly fall festival will be from 1 – 5 p.m. Complete with live music, vendors, auction items, food trucks, pumpkin painting, tractor rides and more, this event will help fundraise for Sustainable Renton’s Free Grocery Store. The Community Farm is at 11840 148th Avenue Southeast in Renton, behind Celebration Foursquare Church. For more information, visit sustainablerenton.org/.

Oct. 10

The Renton American Legion Fred Hancock Post 19: This organization meets the second Tuesday of every month, except July and August, at 7 p.m. at the Post Hall (3224 NE 12th St.) in the Renton Highlands under the water tower. All veterans are welcome. Most vets are eligible for membership. America’s premier patriotic veterans’ organization and the prime driver of the original G. I. Bill, the Legion focuses on service to veterans, has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans and produced many important programs for the community, children and youth. Come join area vets. Meeting dates for 2023 are Oct. 10, Nov. 14, and Dec. 12.

Oct. 19

Café Vets: Monthly gathering of veterans and guests for coffee and refreshments hosted by Renton American Legion Post 19 and Auxiliary Unit 19 on the third Thursday of every month (except December) from 10 a.m. to noon. Come for coffee and camaraderie and goodies. Legion membership is not a requirement, though most veterans are eligible for membership. Post Service Officer will be on hand, in case someone needs assistance with a VA claim. No agenda, just veterans getting together with other veterans and their friends. Post Hall is in the Renton Highlands, under the water tower (3224 NE 12th St.).

Oct. 20

Truck or Treat Halloween Drive Thru at Renton Community Center: An alternative to regular trick-or-treating, this event will allow costumed patrons to collect candy from the comfort and safety of their vehicles. Registration is open through Oct. 19 (or until sold out) and will cost $15 for Renton residents and $18 for non-residents for the time slots. The event runs from 5 to 7:30 p.m., with the 5-5:45 p.m. slot slated to have reduced noise and flashing lights. Sign up at RentonWA.gov/register with the keyword “treat.”

Oct. 21

Free Museum Days at the Renton History Museum: Free admission to the museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and enjoy the wonders of the past!

Oct. 28

Senior Holiday Craft Bazaar at Don Persson Renton Senior Activity Center: From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., enjoy this all ages bazaar offers handcrafted items —perfect for Christmas and holiday presents — made by senior 50 and older throughout the area. Olde Fashioned Halloween Party at Gateway Park: This extra fun downtown Halloween party will be from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be a costume contest (for those on four-legs as well as two) games, vendors, candy and a chance to complete a riddle card game by finding all the clues throughout the downtown business-fronts.

Saturdays, Sept. 30 to Oct. 28

Renton Parkrun at Cedar River Trail: This weekly 5K community event takes place every Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Cedar River Trail trailhead by the I-405 overpass. This free event does require registration but is meant to be a fun event where walkers, joggers, runners, volunteers and spectators can come together.
