Two Renton singers to perform in BCC’s production of ‘The Music Man’

Two Renton residents are on stage, one in the lead female role, as the Bellevue Community College Drama Department presents the classic musical, “The Music Man,” in four performances through Saturday (March 7).

Kelsey Maher, a graduate of Seattle Christian School, will perform the female lead, “Marian the Librarian” – the skeptical young woman who falls in love with con man Professor Harold Hill. She sings several numbers, including the classic, “Till There Was You.”

Kirin Waite, a Hazen High School graduate, appears as one of the town residents and sings in the chorus on several numbers.

Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. each evening in the college’s Carlson Theatre, with an additional matinee at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Tickets, at $15 general admission ($12 students), are available only through Brown Paper Tickets or 1-800-838-3006).

Winner of multiple Tony Awards, “The Music Man” features fast-talking con man Harold Hill, whose attempts to fleece the good people of River City, Iowa, are challenged by the skeptical but compassionate librarian, Marion Paroo, with whom Hill falls in love.

BCC Drama & Dance Program Chair Tammis Doyle directs the production, with Music Instructor Julie Denninghoff providing musical direction.

Carlson Theatre is located in Building E on the south courtyard of BCC’s main campus (3000 Landerholm Circle S.E., Bellevue, at the intersection of S.E. 28th St. and 148th Ave. S.E.).
