The winner of the Renton Crash Cinema People’s Choice Award is a three-minute film in which the rescuer, not the prince, gets the girl.

The film, “The Princess and the Tank,” was selected in online voting at rentonreporter.com; it received 21 votes. It beat out “Got ‘Em” by just one vote.

The movie about the guy sent by the prince to rescue the princess ends up with the princess falling for her rescuer.

The film was produced by Natalie Gress, who played the princess, Sarah Edmonds and Addison Haplin-Higman, who played the prince.

The rescuer, “Hank the Tank,” was played by Brian Linnenkamp. All four are students at Liberty High School. It’s their first-ever entry in a filmmaking contest.

However, one of the stars of “Got ‘Em,” Tyvon Tabadero, came out a winner, too. He was picked in a random drawing from all those who voted online to receive a pass to the Seattle International Film Festival in Renton in May.

Tabadero already has some experience in making films in Renton. He teamed up with “Got ‘Em” co-producer Coi Tran to film “Skitsophrenia,” which won a second-place award in last October’s Renton FilmFrenzy competition.

About 35 people fanned out as teams across Renton March 30 to create three-minute films in the first Renton Crash Cinema, sponsored by the Seattle International Film Festival.

Six films were completed and screened at the Renton Civic Theatre that night.
