Rotary Club provides 800 free coats for Renton youth

At this year’s annual Renton Rotary Operation Warm program, more than 800 free new coats were provided to children throughout the community.

“Every child, regardless of their economic situation, deserves a brand new coat. Our club believes a brand new coat is more than a coat, and offers a child physical and emotional warmth, confidence to socialize and succeed, and hope of a brighter future,” said Al Ralston, Renton Rotary President. “Operation Warm provides not just physical warmth, but so much more. Without a warm coat, many children in need miss school, which also means they miss the education they need as well as a free or reduced breakfast and lunch that fuels their bodies. In addition, having a beautiful brand new coat builds self-esteem and peer acceptance, giving children the confidence they need to succeed.”
