Renton Youth Symphony Orchestra and Debut Orchestra celebrate 30 years

The orchestras meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday evenings from September to April.

The Renton Youth Symphony Orchestra (RYSO) directed by Alexei Girsh and its Debut Orchestra conducted by Mike Chen, recently celebrated its 30th year in providing South King County youth an opportunity, in addition to their school music programs, to play in a full orchestra with a professional director.

The mission of RYSO is to provide a challenging musical experience to any qualified player in the community by offering it close to home and by keeping tuition costs low.

RYSO is sponsored by the City of Renton Community Services Department and is governed by a non-profit Foundation consisting of a Board of Directors and Music Director.

RYSO and its Debut Orchestra (for musicians with at least one year of music instruction) meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday evenings from September to April.

RYSO registration fees are $135 for Renton residents and $162 for non-Renton residents. The Debut Orchestra registration fees, for developing musicians with at least one year of music instruction, is $100 for Renton residents and $120 for non-Renton residents. Scholarships are available.
