Registration now open for Renton FilmFrenzy VI

The annual 50-hour filmmaking challenge is set this year for Oct.4-6.

Registration is now open for Renton Film Frenzy VI.

The annual 50-hour filmmaking challenge is set this year for Oct.4-6. Filmmakers will have from 5 p.m. Friday, October 4, through 7 p.m., Sunday, October 6, to write, shoot, edit and turn in a film up to four minutes in length.

The film must be shot entirely in Renton.

The FilmFrenzy screening is set for 7 p.m. Oct. 19 at Renton Civic Theatre.

All genres of films are welcome in the contest, though they must be appropriate for all audiences.

Filmmakers will be given “CurveBall challenges” via e-mail at the beginning of the competition. The challenges could include incorporating a line of dialogue, a task in Renton and/or a specific location in Renton.

Top films receive “Curvee” Awards, specially designed by local artists and wood sculptor Dan Krehbiel, suring an Oct. 22 Awards Gala.

In addition, there are cash prizes with a top prize of $500 for best picture. Other Curvee awards will be presented to Best Actor, Reel Grrls Woman Filmmaker, Best Screenwriter, Best Use of Renton, and Special Judges Award.

There is also a People’s Choice award, with voting available through the Renton Reporter website. All submitted films will also be streamed through the Renton Reporter website.
