Symphony

Maple Valley Youth Symphony hosts “The Gift Concert” benefiting the Maple Valley Rotary’s Music For Kids program Dec. 16.

The concert is being held at 7 p.m. at the Maple Valley Presbyterian Church, 22659 Sweeney Road Southeast in Maple Valley.

The concert features an appearance from Santa, Maple Valley Youth Symphony’s Debut, Philharmonia and Symphony Orchestras as well as ensemble groups.

 

Clothing

Valley Medical Center’s Occupational Health Services is accepting donations of cold-weather items for BlaketSeattle. The following items are being accepted; blankets, long-sleeve shirts, hats, thermals, pants, boots, sweaters, gloves, scarves, sleeping bags and socks. Donation boxes can be found at the hospital through the end of December.

 

Food drive

Valley Medical is also hosting a food and clothing drive sponsored by their Day Surgery Center.

The community is asked to bring non-perishable food for the Faith Harvest Helpers and warm clothing for the Renton Clothing Bank through Dec. 22.

The Day Surgery Center is at 17820 Talbot Road S. in Renton.

 

Beer, carols

Luther’s Table will feature an opportunity to sing carols and kick back with their “Beer and Carols” series in December.

The event is offered at 7 p.m., Dec. 13 and 20.

Also at the restaurant and pub, the Hired Help Christmas Show, which is at 8 p.m., Dec. 17 and is free.

New Year: Bistro

Lakeside Bistro is hosting two New Year’s Eve events:

•  7 p.m., Dec. 30, New Year’s Eve-Eve; Trish Hatley with Hans Brehmer, jazz vocal duo is one of the best acts the Seattle jazz scene has to offer, free

•  7 p.m., Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve at the Bistro, Coreena Brown with Uncle Jimmy Holden, free

The Salvation Army is seeking bell ringers for the holiday season.
