‘Gutenberg! The Musical’ opens Aug. 19 at RCT

All proceeds from the show will benefit Page Ahead Children’s Literacy Program.

If Johannes Gutenberg’s printing press was one of the most important inventions of human history, then it is only apt that there exists a musical parody that showcases a highly inaccurate interpretation of the invention.

Gutenberg! The Musical! is hitting stages next week at Renton Civic Theater, starring Bryan Hanner and Daniel Repp. This two-person show focuses on the egotistic yet passionate Gutenberg, a Satan-worshiping monk who wants to keep people from reading, and a full cast of other wacky character.

All proceeds from the show will benefit Page Ahead Children’s Literacy Program. Tickets are $12 online, $15 at the door and $10 for students. The show will run 7:30 p.m., Aug. 19-20 at Renton Civic Theater, 507 S. Third St.

This show is recommended for audience members aged 13 years or older.
