Fabulous Fourth of July celebration is Tuesday

Fourth of July is Tuesday, and the city of Renton is gearing up for its annual Fabulous 4th of July celebration.

Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park opens 7 a.m. on July 4, but the programs only start at 9 a.m.

EVENTS

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. is the sand blast volleyball tournament at the south beach sand courts. Participants will receive a tank top for playing and prizes for the champions. To register, visit http://www.rentonwa.gov/sports.

Kids can enjoy activities from noon to 8 p.m. There will be KidZone activities, inflatable structures and face painting.

The party gets started on the main stage at 12:30 p.m. Main stage, located in the grass amphitheater on the north side of Kidd Valley, will feature Renton City Concert Band, The Reptile Man, Toucans Steel Drum Band, Patrick McHentry & the Chinook Hooks, and Oncore.

FIREWORKS

If you’re wanting to see the fireworks display, you will have to wait until 10 p.m. The 20-minute display will be launched from the northwest corner of the Ivar’s water walk, and will beo visible in various locations near the park or from the surrounding hills.

This is the only fireworks display allowed in the city of Renton. Don’t forget the sale, possession and ignition of fireworks is illegal within Renton city limits. For more information click here.

PARKING

Gene Coulon Memorial Beach will be busy on Fourth of July so parking will be limited. Courtesy pick up and drop off will be available in the boat launch area from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Vehicular access to the park will stop from 9 to 11:15 p.m.

Parking will be available on Houser Way North, as well as The Landing and in the lot on North Eight Street, Park Avenue North and Garden Avenue North.
