Conservation workshop scheduled on fencing

Fencing expert Warick Bryant of Kiwi Fencing will talk about fencing choices for horses and livestock and how to build them.

The King Conservation District has scheduled a fencing workshop at 9 a.m. to noon Friday, April 22.    Fencing expert Warick Bryant of Kiwi Fencing will talk about fencing choices for horses and livestock and how to build them.

This hands-on workshop will be held on a private 34 acre farm in the Spring Lake area of Renton where they raise a little of everything from pigs and chickens to goats and cows – even cane berries and fruit trees. Bring work gloves and boots and come prepared to learn how to build a corner H-brace, string fencing and hang gates. Warm drinks and snacks will be provided.

From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 23, district and Horses for Clean Water in Hobart at the foot of Taylor Mountain will demonstrate a mud-free, chore-efficient horse property. See a covered round pen, chore-efficient manure composting bins, permanent fencing set for rotational grazing, gates for easy in and out, Paso Fino horses and an Incinclot toilet.

Directions to events will be given upon registration. All classes are free and open to the public. To register and receive directions go to kingcd.eventbrite.com, call 425-282-1949 or signup@kingcd.org.
