Art by Daniel Wend on display at Renton’s Carco Theatre

Art by local artist Daniel Wend is on display at Carco Theatre through March 28. Wend will discuss his art at a free artist’s reception at Carco Feb. 28 from 4-7 p.m.

Wend’s Carco art is an abstract series of textural works using cloth, fibers, paper, plastic and assorted salvaged materials and objects posted on canvas, wood panels or masonite. He also used acrylics.

In an artist statement, Wend says some of the displayed works are “evocative of miniature topographies, bursting with river basins, volcanoes and fault zones.” Other works in this series he says are “suggestive of archaeological finds or fossils.”

“Ultimately,” he writes, “the art is a reflection of the passage of time and the universal forces of nature.”

Wend adds that his series exhibited at Carco evolved from his lifelong fascination with science and humanity.

Wend’s art is presented by the Renton Municipal Arts Commission. For more information about the commission, visit Renton Arts Commission
