Wrong to publish a suicide note

I was recently informed of an article (March 12, Police Blotter) in the Renton Reporter concerning the young man cutting his throat on March 1. I realize that this news is public domain. However, the printing of the suicide note was not meant for the public and I feel it was an invasion of privacy and used only to sensationalize this news item. Shame on you for allowing this to happen. My family and I were extremely angry and hurt. If you feel for personal letters letters to be published, perhaps you should publish your own journal. Or diary! By the way, my “son” is alive and doing well.

(Editor’s note: The name of the letter writer was withheld to protect the identify of the victim.)
