Vote yes to support Renton schools

Two important school funding measures are on the Feb. 12 ballot. Voter approval is required to maintain this source of local funding to improve our schools and community.

I am a mother of two children in the Renton School District. I also had the privilege of serving as co-chair of the Capital Facilities Advisory Committee. I fully support a quality education and learning environment for all teachers, staff and students. This is an opportunity to create a standard of excellence in our community. We need your vote to do this.

Priorities for both funding measures will include a new elementary school, upgraded safety/security procedures in all schools, additional educational programs (Arts, Robotics, STEM and Science), building maintenance and overall site improvements.

Funding will also contribute to classroom materials, lower class size, teacher salaries, school lunches, music, athletics, theater and arts.

Even with approval of both of these measures, Renton School District tax rates will continue to drop for property owners.

Make your voice heard — vote yes by Feb. 12 to help our schools and community to be the best place to learn, live and thrive.
