Thank you, Mayor Denis Law.

I’m responding to Mr. Law’s letter to his staff regarding budget cuts, published in the Oct. 9 Renton Reporter.

I’ve known Mr. Law as a savvy businessman, who gets the job done but has never failed to consider the human factor in either his business or his political careers. His letter tells the employees and citizens of Renton the honest truth, instead of painting a false and misleading rosy picture. I’m sure that writing that letter was difficult for him, but, these days, we all need a mayor who has the courage to tell it like it is. I admire him for doing so.

Being laid off is a horrible thing. I was laid off myself from private industry and am going through the job-hunting process. But as far as Renton is concerned, I’m confident that the city will be OK eventually with Denis at the helm. This is not the time to whine and we need to give him all the support we can.
