Lots of questions regarding location of downtown library | Letter to the editor

As a downtown Renton resident for the past 16 years and a new member of the City Center Community Plan Advisory Board, I have some comments and questions on the library debate.

I fully understand the passion for the current library location over the Cedar River but allow me to ask a few questions. With new libraries planned in the Highlands, Newcastle, Skyway and expansion of the Fairwood location, does a smaller downtown library make sense since less usage is likely?  Are there detailed plans to renovate the Cedar River location available to study and what does that look like in amenities and cost?  What are the logistical concerns of library usage while renovation takes place at the current location? Where and what is the cost of a temporary location during remodeling?

I am glad this issue is coming up in a vote on Aug. 7 to give both sides a chance to make their case but I feel my questions need some answers to make an informed choice.
