Jones’ vote isn’t for sale | Letter to the editor

What I’m looking for in a City Council member is honesty, responsibility, listening to Renton citizens, and objectivity in voting. Our elected officials have come from the same pool – the same old clubs and committees. Renton has good citizens and active volunteers that are overlooked because they aren’t part of that pool. It’s time to improve Renton with fresh voices and leadership.

Robin Jones has been committed to Renton longer than his opponent – 15 years, not just six. He’s been on the Human Services Advisory Council (HSAC) since 2002, chairing for three years. I’ve served with Robin on HSAC dealing with emergency services needed by our most vulnerable citizens.  Robin led us through difficult decisions on skyrocketing funding requests within a tight city budget. He listened, led with compassion and communicated effectively. On HSAC we are briefed on annexation and community development issues. Robin is prepared. Robin listens.

Robin’s background shows responsibility. He earned a master’s degree.  He is a program manager with Boeing, while also serving in the U.S. military for 25 years.  He is a deputy commander leading 1,300 of our nation’s soldiers, managing a multi-million dollar budget.

Renton police and firefighters, here’s the guy who understands deployment and deserves your vote.

Robin owes no favors to major supporters or certain elected officials for arranging endorsements.  His vote isn’t for sale.

Robin Jones is the fresh voice we need on City Council.
