In HOT lane move over for ambulance

I am writing in regard to something I observed on the “HOT lanes” on State Route 167.

I am writing in regard to something I observed on the “HOT lanes” on State Route 167.

I saw four cars in the “HOT lane” being followed by an ambulance, siren and red lights on. I noticed that none of the four cars crossed over the double white lines, as it is clearly posted that would be illegal.

I would appreciate an answer on this.

(EDITOR’S NOTE: The state Department of Transportation had already posed that situation to the Washington State Patrol, according to Noel Brady, a transportation department spokesman. Anyone in front of an ambulance or other emergency vehicle approaching from behind in a HOT lane is to move immediately to the right, he said. AND, according to Brady, the State Patrol indicated that a driver wouldn’t get cited for crossing the double white line if necessary to get back into the HOT lane.)
