If you are a legal immigrant and a refugee from a different country (“Renton Tech ESL students join refugee, immigrant rally in Olympia,” Renton Reporter, Feb. 5), and was given the privilege to permanently reside in the United States of America is already an immense service of love and care that the aforementioned nation has been extended to them.
Main reason why many foreigners would like to immigrate to the U.S. to seek refuge is because they can tangibly feel here and breathe palpably the fresh air of freedom and democracy that the governments of their countries of origin have denied that to them tyrannically and oppressively.
Another objective is economic reason. Perhaps many of these immigrants and refugees without an iota of doubt in my mind are longing to seek for greener pastures in America to improve their ways of living that the places where they originally came from have failed to provide that to them miserably.
In their land of birth, I suspect many of these foreigners and refugees don’t have their own cars. They cannot afford to pay the expensive price of the cars. Foods are so expensive. Only the rich can afford. But here in U.S.A. foreigners have been given the tremendous opportunity to improve their standards of living that they’ve never experienced back in their homelands. Some of them have owned nice homes as well.
In short, here in America based on my honest observation, everybody is equal. You can have what the moneyed people have if you are diligent and hard-working individual. Many foreigners have been prevented to grow economically from their corrupt officials of their governments. But here in the U.S. is totally different. Our U.S. public officials will encourage us to improve our life.
So my fellow immigrants, let’s take heed the wise counsel of the late assassinated President, John F. Kennedy, who once said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask yourself what you can do for your country.”
Let us offer our services kindly and loyally first to the great country of the United States of America, by being a law-abiding citizen and hard worker before asking their services to us. Let us prove first that we are worthy of honor to take abode in this powerful nation of America, which is dubbed by many as the “Land of Honey and Milk.”
Thank you Editor. God bless.
