We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to every Renton citizen who supported previous Renton School District bonds and levies for 2012, 2008, 2006, 2004, etc.
This resulted in thousands of children receiving new schools, needed supplies or equipment, and above all else, a quality education.
If it were not for the support of prior generations, we would not have such a strong school community, and great kids becoming great adults. They are now your healthcare providers, teachers, law enforcement, military service members, first responders, service providers, community leaders, government officials, journalists, and the list goes on.
We cannot thank you enough for the compassion, love, and support of this community.
We would like to ask for your continued support to vote yes vote for two measures on the Feb. 12 ballot for the Renton School District:
1. Building for Excellence School Construction Bond; and
2. Replacement Education and Operations Levy.
Please know as our community grows, the tax will not increase, but actually decrease. With approval of both measures, tax rates are projected to decrease significantly. Because of the many additional families and businesses that have moved into the district, and the district’s sound financial management, district tax-rates have been steadily declining over the past few years.
The new combined total district tax-rate is estimated to be $3.52/per $1,000 of assessed value; down from the current tax rate of $4.61/per $1,000 of assessed value (a savings of $412 per year for the owner of a median-priced house of $378,000).
Education replacement levies pay for educational programs, teacher and support staff salaries, classroom cleaning and maintenance, school bus fuel and maintenance, classroom and office supplies, and more. The levies are a way for local families and community members to provide funding for their local neighborhood schools.
The School Construction Bond pave the way for local communities to remodel schools and keep technology current for students. Both bonds and levies are needed to maintain a quality school system for students. More details can be obtained from this website: www.rentonschools.us/2019bondlevy.
