Basic Studies teachers dedicated to students

Thanks for writing up your article on ESL cuts at RTC. (www.RentonReporter.com, posted Tuesday, and also on this issue’s front page.) The Basic Studies teachers are very dedicated to and protective of their students. As Basic Studies instructors, we see the direct impact of cuts and realize their long term consequences. Although I know it was not easy for them to cut any program on campus, I feel there is always a degree of separation that an administration experiences when not working directly with the student population.

I also think it is easy to say that those let go were just part-timers, but most of them work at RTC as their only means of income and yet are fighting primarily for their students.
