One day after the Renton Landing’s newest bakery shop had its soft opening, hardcore Seahawks and/or dessert fans lined up as early as 4 a.m. for the official opening of Crumbl Cookies, co-owned by former Seattle Seahawk Bobby Wagner.
On Saturday, Aug. 31 — officially starting at 8 a.m. — the doors of the new Renton Crumbl opened with fanfare and a queue that stretched around the building.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen people show up at 4 a.m. to wait for an opening,” said Renton Crumbl co-owner Cam Round. “It’s pretty exciting. Obviously, Bobby is a great support to the community — not only as an athlete, but also a representative, I think, of Seattle.”
Many Wagner and Seahawks fans stood in line for hours, waiting to have their jerseys, footballs, Funko Pop! figurines and posters signed. They were delighted to learn that Wagner was joined by fellow former Seahawk Richard Sherman for autographs and photo opportunities.
Along with Crumbl’s signature cookies and the chance to meet the two NFL stars, the grand opening had free Crumbl giveaways, a football toss for prizes, a photo booth setup and a giant inflatable Crumbl football helmet that turned the heads of many Landing shoppers.
“It’s a popular spot. There’s a lot of great food places here, a lot of great things that bring people to this area,” said Round of the decision to open the new location at The Landing.
