Through April 15, United Way of King County is operating a free tax preparation site in Renton.

Tax assistance is provided by volunteers who are trained and certified by the IRS.

The assistance is 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays and noon-4 p.m. Sundays at the Salvation Army Renton Rotary Food Bank, 206 S. Tobin St.

Anyone whose household made less than $50,000 in 2009 is eligible for the help, which is designed for basic tax returns only, meaning no rental income, business taxes, or sale of property or stock.

No appointment is necessary.
