Swapping stories, swapping crafts

Tomāto Tomäto Creative celebrates its grand opening in downtown Renton with a crafting hangout and free swap meet.

Kelly Affleck welcomed crafting experts and novices alike to the courtyard outside Tomāto Tomäto Creative Space on Wells Avenue, where tables filled with free crafting supplies — from sewing patterns of 1970s jumpsuits to rubber teaching stamps to a box full of shoelaces — were looked over and creative ideas were sparked. Along with the swap meet, Tomāto Tomäto offered tables to work on needlepoint and the chance to create custom magnets for $5, and of course, free snacks and beverages. “I’m Italian, so I always have to provide something to eat,” Affleck said with a laugh.
