New adviser named for Renton Small Business Development Center

The Renton Small Business Development Center has a new adviser. Asbury Lockett joined the center on Feb. 9, replacing Steve Burke, who accepted a similar position elsewhere in the SBDC network.

Asbury Lockett joined the center on Feb. 9, replacing Steve Burke, who accepted a similar position elsewhere in the SBDC network.

Lockett of Renton has experience in manufacturing, executive coaching and process improvement. He is a graduate of Stanford University, where he received a bachelor of science in industrial engineering and the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a master’s of business administration. He also was a Washington State Quality Award Examiner.

“The Renton Small Business Development Center builds on Renton’s successful economic development efforts and continues to foster the community’s entrepreneurial spirit,” said Renton Mayor Denis Law in a press release.

Lockett’s position is funded through 2012 by the Small Business Jobs Act. The Renton SBDC is supported with in-kind administrative and marketing contributions from the City of Renton, Renton Technical College and the Renton Chamber of Commerce.

The Renton SBDC is located on the campus of Renton Technical College, 3000 N.E. Fourth St., DeMoss Building J, Suite 214.
