BECU celebrating 75th anniversary with community events

To celebrate its 75th Anniversary, Boeing Employee Credit Union (BECU) is holding community events, including one in Tukwila, to thank its members in the south Puget Sound area.

The events will include charity donations, free food and giveaways for community members and drawings for larger prizes.

BECU was founded in 1935 by 18 Boeing employees who realized that by pooling their resources, they could help each other buy tools they needed for their jobs.

What started with $9 has turned into Washington’s largest credit union with more than 500,000 members, and a continued focus on helping local businesses and local communities reach their financial goals.

At each event, attendees can enter to win a new Apple iPad and for any new account opened, BECU will donate $25 to local non-profit Rebuilding Together South Sound.

The event in Tukwila, the closest one to Renton, is noon-6 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, at Westfield Mall, near Duke’s Chowder House.
