Renton man dies after hit and run Friday in SeaTac

WSP detectives are seeking the public’s help in finding the driver at fault

A 44-year-old man from Renton died Feb. 2 following a hit and run collision in SeaTac.

Washington State Patrol troopers responded to reports of a serious collision Friday on the ramp from Des Moines Memorial Drive to eastbound state Route 518.

According to a media release from WSP, troopers determined a Chevrolet Blazer had run out of gas and was parked in the gore point at the top of the ramp. The passenger from that vehicle was reportedly standing outside of the vehicle on the passenger side.

A utility truck traveling up the ramp, drifted into the left shoulder and hit the Blazer and the passenger, the release stated.

The passenger from the Blazer was pronounced dead at Harborview Medical Center shortly after the incident occurred.

The utility vehicle reportedly left the scene heading eastbound on SR 518.

During a search of the area, the utility vehicle was not located, the release added.

The 41-year-old driver of the Blazer was injured during the collision, however he was not transported to a hospital.

State Patrol detectives are asking the public for any information they may have on the whereabouts of the utility vehicle or the driver of that vehicle.

The identity of the passenger has not been released yet.
