The Renton City Council Monday will receive its first update on library building plans in the city since before the Aug. 7 vote, when voters chose to refurbish the library over the Cedar River, rather than build a new one.

Information about the downtown Renton and Highlands libraries will be presented in the council’s Committee of the Whole meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday. The regular council meeting will follow, with its chances for public comment.

The King County Library System will have representatives at the meeting, including Bill Ptacek, KCLS library director.

Then, on Tuesday, the city will host an open house with City of Renton representatives, who will give updates on the library plans to the public. The open house is 6 p.m. at the Conference Center, seventh floor, Renton City Hall, 1055 Grady Way S.
