Orting tops Renton 26-6

Renton is now 2-5 overall on the season and 1-4 in the South Puget Sound League.

It’s been a tough season for the Renton football program and it did not get any better this weekend as the Orting Cardinals came to town and knocked off the Indians 26-6 Friday at Renton Memorial Stadium.

Orting went up early, scoring on an 86-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead.

Then, in the second, Orting scored twice more, on a 4-yard run and then three minutes later on a 30-yard passing touchdown to take a 19-0 lead into halftime.

In the third, Orting scored again, this time on a 52-yard run play. Renton finally got on the board in the third quarter with a big run of its own, an 80-yard scoring dash from Taeleraye Green to make it 26-6.

Unfortunately for the Indians, it stayed that way through the fourth to hand Renton the loss.

Renton is now 2-5 overall on the season and 1-4 in the South Puget Sound League. They host Highline at 7 p.m. Thursday at Renton Memorial Stadium.
