Liberty plays for the state championship on Saturday

Patriots take on Archbishop Murphy in a battle of the undefeated teams at 1 p.m. in Tacoma.

It’s a battle of unbeaten teams on Saturday when the Liberty Patriots make their way to the Tacoma Dome Saturday for a 2A state championship matchup with Archbishop Murphy.

Liberty is 12-0 this season and Murphy is 13-0, with just one left to play for all the marbles.

The Patriots have made their way to the championship by beating Blaine, Steilacoom, River Ridge and tehn topping Ellensburg 35-26 Saturday in their semifinal matchup.

The Wildcats made their way through Burlington-Edison, North Kitsap, Tumwater and then blasted Lynden 52-14 last weekend to earn their shot at the state title.

Saturday’s state championship game is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Tacoma Dome,.
