BASEBALL

The Liberty baseball team plays Lynden for the 2A District 1/2 championship Saturday at Daniels Field and Volunteer Park in Anacortes.

Liberty opened the tournament with a 7-1 win over Granite Falls. The boys followed that with a 1-0 win over Archbishop Murphy. Next the Patriots took Burlington-Edison 6-2.

The next stop for the Patriots is the 2A state tournament at Yakima County Stadium. The tournament begins May 20 and the championship game is May 27.

TRACK AND FIELD

The track and field league meets began Wednesday at various sites for each school.

The Renton and Lindbergh boys and girls track and field teams compete Friday in the 2A South Puget Sound League Championships at Franklin Pierce High School.

Following the league meet the teams move to the West Central District Championship May 19 at Renton Memorial Stadium.

Hazen track and field teams began competing in the 4A North Puget Sound League track and field meet Wednesday at French Field.

The district meet begins May 18 at French Field.

Liberty High School began the subdistrict meet Wednesday. The district meet for the boys and girls track and field teams starts May 17 at the Bellingham Civic Stadium.

The state track and field meet begins May 25 at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.

SOCCER

The Lindbergh boys soccer team will play Tyee Saturday at Franklin Pierce High for the 2A West Central District championship.

The Eagles rolled over Bremerton 6-1 to punch its ticket to the championship game.

Hazen played in the first round of the 4A district tournament falling to Curtis 2-0 in a loser out game.

Liberty played in a loser out, winner to state game against Sehome Thursday in Sedro Wolley High. The Patriots won 2-0.
